Vídeo y Single vinilo para 'Just a Kleenex'

Soy Evripidis. Me gusta combinar la música, el dibujo y la escritura para contar historias donde el humor y la tristeza van cogidos de la mano. Desde hace unos años tengo un proyecto musical llamado Evripidis and his Tragedies.

Mientras preparamos nuestro tercer álbum, nos gustaría publicar un disco de 7 pulgadas que se llamará '...and it was good while it lasted baby!'.  El single contendrá tres canciones inéditas y una versión en forma de dueto de Just a Kleenex, canción de nuestro segundo disco “A Healthy Dose of Pain”, con la participación de Laura Antolín, cantante de Doble Pletina.

Queremos acompañar Just a Kleenex con un videoclip realizado por Jordi Estrada, amigo, colaborador y realizador de nuestro anterior videoclip, Teeth que podéis ver aquí:

Llevamos ya meses dándole vueltas a este proyecto. Y recurrimos a FirstClap para poder hacerlo posible, pidiéndoos ayuda a los que queráis colaborar en hacer realidad este disco y ésta visión de la canción. Usaremos el dinero que recaudemos íntegramente para financiar éste 7" y el video de Just a Kleenex.

La canción del video.

Just a Kleenex es una canción aparentemente luminosa que combina la forma musical del Northern Soul y de los Girl Groups, los violines, las trompetas, los saxos y los coros femeninos con una letra más actual que tambalea entre el humor negro y la tristeza. Un tema que nos habla de la añoranza de un amor verdadero y duradero a través de todo lo contrario, las relaciones de una noche, las de usar y tirar. Todos hemos estado en los dos bandos, el del enamorado y el del usado, y al final, en está historia universal del amor sin respuesta, sólo quedan esos minutos de diversión, esos momentos que esa persona pudo y quiso ofrecerte o esa brutal conexión que tuviste con alguien que nunca volvió a llamarte.

El video.

Qué.

Un skin se pone el colgante entre los labios mientras te mira indiferente. El Sol mengua en tu habitación mientras tu primera novia se quita las bragas por primera vez. Tú y ese Dios con tirantes en el baño de un bar. Una rubia te mira en el cine mientras come palomitas. Un niñato en calzoncillos sobre tu cama se gira y te mira a los ojos mientras da una calada gigante de un porro. Dos adolescentes perfectos que se buscan los labios enfrente el skyline de la ciudad. Tú mejor amigo, desfasado por el éxtasis, te besa cósmicamente en medio de una fiesta. O Santi y ese primer polvo en el coche cerca del maizal.

Todas esas fantasías diferentes, todos esos momentos reales que se han quedado grabados en la mente para siempre.

Cómo.

Evripidis nos canta sobre el disfrutar del amor de usar y tirar, del real y del nocturno, de esos pocos segundos o minutos de conexión física con alguien o contigo mismo en un mar de fantasías reales o imaginarias que nuestra mente ha ido almacenando.

El video nos muestra a Evripidis cantando en un plató ficticio mientras vemos imágenes de muchos y diferentes momentos: fantasías amorosas y sexuales, experiencias reales, retratos de distintas personas e imágenes de diferentes referencias culturales y sexuales. Mods y skins, indies y garejeros, o nueva oleros, mezclados en un mundo con referencias a Nan Goldin,Wolfgang Tillmans, Larry Clark, Ryan Mckinley, Gregg Araki o Lucas Moodysson.

En el single participan Marisol Simó, Victor Antolín (Gerard Civat i els Chivets), Cristina de Sola, Jaume Ribell, Marc Ribera (Doble Pletina, Abrevadero, Imperio), Sergi Puyol (Le Pianc, Son Bou, Viva Ben-Hur), Abel Puyol (Le Pianc, Viva Ben-Hur), Nora Gala, Odil Bright, Annie Arjona (How Dare U!), Laura Antolín (Doble Pletina, Abrevadero), Luis Berges (Megaafonia, Los Geronimo, Abrevadero) y Xavi Tort (Mishima, Giulia y Los Tellarini). Esta grabado y mezclado por Juanjo Alba. El video estará realizado por Jordi Estrada y el equipo de Mayo Films.

I’m Evripidis. To tell (my) stories where humour and sadness goes hand in hand I like to combine music, drawing and writing. Since a few years back now I’ve got a musical project called Evripidis and his Tragedies.

Meanwhile we are preparing our third album, we would like to launch a seven inches EP called '...and it was good while it lasted baby!', with three songs never published before. One of them is a duet of our song Just a Kleenex, from our second album A Healthy Dose of Pain. Working with us on this song is Laura Antolín, the singer from Doble Pletina.

We’ve been working on this project for a few months now, and we would like FirstClap to assist us in the making of it, by asking for your collaboration in carrying through with the EP and our vision of the song. We would use the money exclusively to finance the seven inches EP and the video for Just a Kleenex.

The song of the video.

Just a Kleenex is a radiant song that combines the musical style of Northern Soul and the Girl Groups, with the violin, the trumpets, the saxophone and the feminine choirs, with a more contemporary lyric, going back and forth between humour and sadness. One of the themes that speaks to us is the striving for a long lasting true love, through the opposite, the one night stands, the using and throwing away.

We have all been on both sides, in love and thrown away, and in the end this is a universal story of unhappy love, when there are only a few minutes of fun left, the moments that one person could and wanted to offer you and the brutal connection that you had with someone that never called you back.

The video.

What.

A Skin puts a necklace between his lips while locking at you indifferently. The sun diminishes in your room while your first girlfriend takes off her panties for the first time. You and that God with braces, in the bathroom of a bar. A blond girl in the cinema looks at you while eating popcorn. A brat in his underwear in your bed turns around and looks you in the eyes while taking a deep breath from a joint. Two perfect teenagers kissing each other in front of the skyline of the city. Your best friend, in ecstasy, kisses you cosmically in the middle of a party. Or Santi, and his first time in the back of a car near a cornfield.

All those different fantasies, all those real moments that are recorded in the mind forever.

How.

Evripidis sings about enjoying the using and throwing way-love, the real and the nocturnal, the few seconds of minutes of a physical connection with someone else or with yourself, in an ocean of real or imaginary fantasies that our mind has stored.

The video shows us Evripidis that sings on a fictitious stage while we see images of many and different moments; sexual and tender fantasies, real experiences, portraits of different people and images of various cultural and sexual references. Mods and skins, indie kids and garage-rock or new wave fans mingling in a world with references to Nan Goldin,Wolfgang Tillmans, Larry Clark, Ryan Mckinley, Gregg Araki or Lucas Moodysson.
